Repeal the Wood Pulp Agreement Act
Victorian Greens MP Sam Dunn introduced a bill to repeal the Forests (Wood Pulp Agreement) Act on 22 August 2018. This is the legislation that guarantees at least 300,000 m3 per annum of pulplogs to Nippon’s Maryvale mills. Successive legislated wood supply agreements have been in place since 1936; the current agreement expires in 2030.
Read Sam Dunn’s excellent second reading speech. The bill will be debated on 5 September.
